PlusAI, an artificial intelligence company specialising in autonomous driving software for commercial vehicles, has announced an agreement with Goodyear to develop new safety and efficiency features for autonomous transport. The initiative will combine Goodyear’s SightLine technology, which provides real-time information on tyre and road conditions, with SuperDrive, PlusAI’s autonomous driving system.
SightLine uses sensors to detect parameters such as wear levels, surface conditions and grip. This data can be processed by PlusAI’s software to enhance vehicle performance, reduce fleet operating costs and improve reliability in a range of driving environments. According to PlusAI, the partnership forms part of its validation and development strategy ahead of the planned commercial launch of autonomous trucks in 2027 in the United States, followed by Europe. The company, active in North America, Europe and Asia, has already logged over eight million kilometres with its autonomous driving technology and works with manufacturers including Traton (Scania, Man, International), Hyundai and Iveco.
PlusAI’s approach is built on a manufacturer-led model, under which the production, testing and servicing of autonomous vehicles are handled directly by industrial suppliers, offering fleet operators a streamlined path to adoption. Goodyear sees the agreement as a significant step towards embedding tyre intelligence in autonomous vehicles, with the aim of boosting safety and performance from the manufacturing stage onwards.
