The Italian market for truck spare parts and servicing ended 2025 with overall growth of 3% compared with 2024, confirming the expansionary trend that began in the post-pandemic period and strengthened in subsequent years. According to the Barometro Aftermarket Truck Anfia, total turnover was 18% higher than in 2023 and 36% above 2022, although the annual figure masks a less linear evolution than in the recent past.
The year was marked by a strong start. The first quarter of 2025 recorded the highest activity levels of the four-year period under review, acting as the main driver of the final result. From the spring onwards, however, momentum gradually stabilised, with a loss of pace that accompanied the market through to year-end. The fourth quarter showed no signs of recovery, marking the transition from a phase of sustained growth to one of demand normalisation.
One of the most significant findings of the Anfia analysis is the growing divergence among the main product macro-families. For the first time in years of broad-based growth, the truck spare parts and servicing market is moving at different speeds, with some segments expanding, others slowing and one contracting. The Engine and Transmission family confirmed its role as the structural pillar of the truck aftermarket. In 2025 it posted growth of 6% compared with 2024, up 15% on 2023 and 28% on 2022. Despite some volatility during the summer months, the segment maintained high volumes and a consistently positive trend, playing a stabilising role for the overall market. The data reflect the central importance of essential fleet maintenance in a context of economic uncertainty and declining heavy vehicle registrations, prompting operators to extend the life cycle of their fleets.
By contrast, the Below-Chassis segment closed 2025 down 10% on 2024 and 4% on 2023, although still up 7% compared with 2022. It was the only segment in negative territory on an annual basis and represents the main area of concern highlighted by the Barometer. Over the course of the year, the segment showed an uneven trend, but in the final months it proved more resilient than expected, avoiding a sharper downturn. The contraction may indicate a reduction in extraordinary maintenance interventions or greater selectivity in investment in components not immediately critical to vehicle operations.
The Above-Chassis segment presents the most complex trend to interpret. In 2025 it closed with growth of 13% compared with 2024, with very strong increases over the multi-year comparison, equal to +80% on 2023 and +148% on 2022. However, these figures are heavily influenced by a favourable base effect. Intra-year analysis highlights a marked slowdown in the second half of the year, with particularly subdued activity levels in the fourth quarter. According to Anfia, the segment shows signs of structural weakness, suggesting that the expansionary phase observed in previous years is gradually losing momentum.
Overall, the 2025 truck spare parts and servicing market appears to be growing, but in an increasingly selective manner. The fragmentation in performance across product families signals a shift from the post-pandemic rebound and inflation-driven dynamics that had supported demand in previous years. The macroeconomic context, marked by falling industrial vehicle registrations and challenges linked to the ecological transition and CO2 emissions standards, is reinforcing a more cautious approach among fleets.
In this scenario, the stability of the Engine and Transmission segment indicates that driveline maintenance remains a non-discretionary priority, while the slowdown in Above-Chassis and the contraction in Below-Chassis suggest closer cost control and a rationalisation of interventions. The picture outlined by the Barometro Aftermarket Truck Anfia therefore points to a sector that continues to grow, but with underlying fragilities requiring supply chain operators to monitor trends closely and adopt increasingly targeted planning.
