Cargolux Airlines International has reported excellent financial results for the 2024 fiscal year. The company recorded revenues of 3.324 billion US dollars (approximately 2.960 billion euros) and a net profit of 448 million dollars (398 million euros), marking the best result in its history outside the exceptional years during the pandemic.
This success was made possible by a combination of economic and strategic factors. The ongoing growth of e-commerce, particularly from north-eastern Asia, played a significant role in increasing cargo volumes, strengthening Cargolux’s position in international markets. This was further supported by an unprecedented demand for charter flights, which also included dedicated operations for e-commerce logistics.
In a complex global context marked by geopolitical uncertainties such as the conflict in Ukraine and tensions in the Middle East, the airline demonstrated adaptability and resilience. Its operational flexibility and customer-focused approach helped mitigate the impact of instability on operating costs while reinforcing trust among clients and commercial partners.
During 2024, Cargolux also launched important operational developments. From 1 May, Luxcargo Handling took over ground cargo handling activities at Luxembourg Airport, which were previously managed by Luxair. The aim is to enhance service quality through targeted investments in infrastructure and innovative technologies. At the same time, its subsidiary Aquarius Aerial Firefighting successfully completed its first summer firefighting campaign in Spain, deploying three aircraft based in the south of the country to support local authorities.
Looking ahead, the company has begun the process of renewing its fleet with an order for ten Boeing 777-8F aircraft, which are more energy-efficient than the current Boeing 747-8 and 747-400 models. Cargolux’s global network covers over 75 destinations and extends by land to more than 250 locations, offering integrated logistics solutions on a worldwide scale.
