On 2 April 2026, BCube announced the signing of a contract to acquire Alha Group, a specialist operator in airport cargo handling services. The transaction, subject to certain conditions expected to be met in the coming months, is intended to strengthen the industrial and financial capacity of the Italian logistics group and expand its service offering across the value chain. In particular, the integration will enable the development of a logistics platform with greater operational scale and broader investment capacity, with the aim of competing with leading European air cargo operators. The project forms part of the strengthening of the cargo city systems at Milan Malpensa, Milan Linate, Rome Fiumicino and Venice, considered strategic levers for attracting new carriers and increasing freight flows.
The deal also includes the development of an integrated offering between airport operations and regional logistics, with the integration of platforms in Fiumicino, Malpensa and Venice with hubs in Truccazzano and Prato. In this context, BCube aims to establish a system capable of connecting air, sea and road transport, with dedicated services for sectors such as pharmaceuticals, perishables, dangerous goods, valuables and e-commerce. Investments are planned in infrastructure and technology, including new specialised warehouses at major airport hubs, systems for the digitalisation of logistics flows, automation and measures to improve energy efficiency. The objective is to strengthen the competitiveness of the Italian airport system by increasing traffic handling capacity and the quality of services offered to freight forwarders and global operators.
The acquisition of Alha brings into BCube Group an operator with a well-established position in the Italian air cargo sector. Alha Group operates with an integrated model combining airport handling, road transport and a network of off-airport warehouses, serving airlines, freight forwarders and logistics operators that use Italian airports as international gateways.
The group’s origins date back to the 1960s, but its current structure was consolidated in the 1990s with the development of Milan Malpensa as an intercontinental hub. Over time, Alha expanded its presence through the opening of cargo terminals at several Italian airports. Key milestones include the launch of its first terminal in Ancona in 1974 and expansion during the 1980s in Milan Linate, Rome Fiumicino and Milan Segrate. In subsequent years, the group strengthened its role with entry into Turin Caselle and, in 1998, by acting as a hub ground handling agent for Alitalia at Malpensa. Further developments include new terminals at Malpensa and Fiumicino between 2006 and 2009 and the opening of a facility in Verona in 2019.
Alha has progressively expanded its activities from warehouse management to a full-service operator, also including ramp services. At Malpensa in particular, it operates a cargo terminal with air cargo unit handling capacity and automated systems, while since 2017 it has carried out aircraft-side operations, working with international cargo carriers. At the same time, the group has developed a network of off-airport warehouses and a road transport fleet dedicated to national and international connections, strengthening links between airports and industrial districts.
