Work begins on the manoeuvring track at Pordenone Interport
Construction has begun to extend the manoeuvring track at Pordenone Interport, bringing it in line with European standards. The project will enhance the efficiency of the intermodal hub, allowing trains to enter without being split, resulting in time and cost savings. The first phase involves the railway underpass on Via Nuova di Corva, with an investment of two million euros and a construction period of 180 days, including one month of night work. The second phase will bring the total investment to six million. The manoeuvring track will be extended from 350 to 750 metres, making the interport a more competitive intermodal hub. Currently, the facility handles six to seven trains per week but has been affected by the German economic crisis, the Suez Canal blockade and the Russia-Ukraine conflict, with container traffic dropping from 28,000 to 11,000.
