DB Cargo adopts Tanoos 2.0 wagons for corrosive goods
In the third quarter of 2025, DB Cargo will begin operating the new Tanoos 2.0 wagons, developed for transporting highly corrosive mineral cargo. The project, launched in 2022, is the result of collaboration between DB Cargo, K+S, Wascosa and Greenbrier. The wagons, manufactured by Greenbrier and leased from Wascosa, will number up to 650 and are expected to carry more than 70 million tonnes of K+S products over the next ten years. The Tanoos 2.0 wagons feature a chassis shortened by 400 mm, a weight reduction of 1.5 tonnes and an increased capacity of 78 cubic metres. Made of stainless steel, they offer high corrosion resistance and improved unloading solutions.

Ford recalls Transit vans in the US due to software issues
Ford has issued a new recall for 4,625 Transit vans from model years 2022–2023 in the United States, due to a fault in the repair of instrument panels that failed to properly illuminate warning lights and indicators. These vehicles had already been included in a previous 2022 recall affecting 30,200 units for the same problem, which violated US federal standard FMVSS 101. A further software error prevented the successful installation of the original fix.
Electric trucks now serving the chemical industry
Italy has launched its first road transport project using electric trucks dedicated to industrial chemical production. Spearheaded by Esseco Industrial, a division of Esseco Group, in partnership with Man Truck & Bus and transport firms Germani and Burchianti, the initiative will connect production facilities in Pieve Vergonte and San Martino di Trecate in Piedmont, and Saline di Volterra in Tuscany, with the ports of Livorno and Piombino and with logistics hubs in Busto Arsizio and Segrate. As part of a sustainable intermodal logistics plan, charging stations will also be installed at production sites. Thanks to the use of renewable energy, the project aims to cut emissions by 92% compared to diesel-powered transport.
