Binotto Group presented ITA Evo at IAA Transportation 2026, the latest evolution of the Intelligent Tipping Assistant, a system designed to improve the safety of tipper trucks. The device was previewed at the German trade fair two years ago and is now commercially available and operating on some Italian fleets. Tipping, an operation traditionally associated with hydraulics, is now monitored using sensors and data management, turning the system into a tool for assessing the vehicle’s operating conditions. The principle is based on the fact that, as the body is raised, the geometry, load distribution and stability of the entire truck are constantly changing. The system detects and interprets these changes while the operation is under way. Tipping safety depends on the interaction of several factors, including ground conditions, vehicle position, load distribution and unloading method. ITA Evo collects information throughout the tipping cycle and uses it to provide a real-time picture of the operation.
Sensor technology is the distinguishing feature of the new generation. Binotto developed ITA Evo through a series of field trials, culminating in its use on an operational fleet under particularly demanding conditions, including quarry applications. The company’s aim is to turn data into real-time decisions, allowing operators to intervene before an operating condition becomes critical.
Compared with conventional systems, the operating approach is different. The Intelligent Tipping Assistant does more than signal an anomaly: it continuously monitors the vehicle’s behaviour while it is working. The data collected describes how the vehicle is being used and the conditions under which unloading takes place, turning the tipper into a source of information that can be integrated into digital fleet management. With this system, safety relies on a combination of hardware, electronics and data, alongside mechanical and hydraulic components and existing protection devices.
The group retains its engineering expertise in telescopic cylinders, pumps, power take-offs and hydraulic systems for tipper vehicles, while adding a digital component that monitors what happens throughout the operating cycle. Binotto also stresses ease of installation: ITA Evo has been designed to minimise the impact of integration on the vehicle and reduce fleet downtime during installation. This is particularly important for vehicles operating in quarries, construction sites and materials handling, where vehicle availability directly affects productivity.
