Hyster has expanded its range of electric forklifts with the new J4.0-7.0Xtlg series, built to handle loads of up to 7 tonnes and equipped with integrated lithium-ion batteries. These new models target heavy-duty applications, offering a zero-emission alternative for companies looking to move away from internal combustion vehicles without sacrificing performance.
According to the company, the Hyster J4.0-7.0Xtlg forklifts build on the proven design of the J2.0-3.5Xtlg series, adding a reinforced chassis and large tyres to ensure high performance even on uneven ground. The new lifting system, featuring a lithium-ion battery and permanent magnet motor, provides smooth traction and precise control, with acceleration and gradient-climbing capability comparable to that of diesel-powered machines.
A liquid-cooled battery system and intelligent electronic management deliver greater energy efficiency while reducing maintenance requirements. Fast charging and extended runtime make these forklifts suitable for multi-shift operations, particularly in industrial logistics, wood, paper and construction materials sectors. For outdoor use, the range also includes versions with dual-tread solid tyres and optional weatherproof cabins.
The launch of the J4.0-7.0Xtlg series forms part of a broader move towards electrification in industrial handling. The shift from diesel engines to electric systems reflects growing demand for sustainable solutions, driven by European decarbonisation policies and energy transition funding programmes. In this context, high-capacity electric forklifts are steadily expanding their market reach, emerging as a cost-effective alternative to traditional vehicles thanks to lower operating costs and reduced CO2 emissions.
“We have combined the reliability and toughness of internal combustion forklifts in a zero-emission package,” said Eva Nachtergaele, Regional Product Manager at Hyster. “The new models will help industrial sites maintain high productivity levels while benefiting from the advantages of lithium-ion batteries.” She also noted that Hyster’s dealer network provides technical support and spare parts even for heavy-duty operations.
