In the first half of 2025, Poste Italiane achieved historic results, marking its best start to a year since listing on the stock exchange in 2015. With record revenues and a significant boost in profitability, the group reaffirms its central role in the national economy and strengthens its position in the integrated logistics sector. This momentum is closely linked to the transport and freight handling sector, particularly in view of the major international commitments Italy is preparing to face, such as the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games.
Specifically, revenues for the first half of 2025 reached 6.5 billion euros, a 5 percent increase year-on-year. All business segments contributed to the growth, with an annual increase of 4.8 percent. Profitability also improved significantly: adjusted operating profit (ebit) rose to 1.7 billion euros, up 12 percent, while net profit reached 1.2 billion euros, marking a 14 percent increase. These figures prompted the management to revise full-year forecasts upwards: the new projection for adjusted operating profit in 2025 is now 3.2 billion euros, up from 3.1 billion, while the net profit forecast has been raised from 2.1 to 2.2 billion.
One of the key drivers of Poste Italiane’s growth has been the expansion of its parcels and logistics division. The first half of the year saw an 11 percent increase in parcel volumes handled compared to 2024, with a 14 percent surge in the second quarter alone. A total of 159 million parcels were processed in the first six months of the year. Worth noting is the growing involvement of the postmen network, which directly managed 43 percent of deliveries in the second quarter. From a financial perspective, revenues in the logistics sector reached 801 million euros in the half-year period, up 7.9 percent, with a particularly strong second quarter performance of 408 million euros, marking an 8.8 percent increase.
Poste Italiane is pressing ahead with its transformation plan to become a fully integrated logistics operator, focusing on digitalisation, nationwide coverage and service integration. Among the most tangible initiatives is the development of a nationwide network of lockers for last-mile delivery: the new company Locker Italia, established in April 2024, had already installed around 500 lockers across the country by the end of June 2025.
At the same time, on the infrastructure front, Patrimonio Italia Logistica - Sicaf was established to co-finance and accelerate the modernisation of the logistics network, in partnership with specialised operators. Another crucial element of the strategy is international expansion, supported by the strategic partnership launched with DHL in 2023, which combines the partner’s global expertise with Poste Italiane’s extensive national infrastructure.
Poste Italiane’s ambition to establish itself as a leading logistics provider is further confirmed by its appointment as the premium logistics partner for the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games. The group will be responsible for handling and transporting equipment and materials related to the event, a significant test of its capabilities in a highly complex operational environment.
