On 11 February 2025, gls group announced the completion of the integration of its US subsidiary's services with its European network, allowing for direct parcel shipments between the United States and Europe. This move aims to enhance the efficiency of international shipping, addressing the growing demand for fast and reliable deliveries between the two continents. Gls states that the new setup will provide customers with a more seamless service, reduced transit times, and improved tracking capabilities. In Italy, the British company has made changes at the helm of Gls Italy, appointing Guido Pietro Bortolone as chief executive officer. Bortolone, who previously held the same position at Arcese Group, is tasked with leading the Italian subsidiary through a challenging phase following an €8 million fine imposed by the Competition Authority for misleading environmental claims and improper charges to customers under the Climate Protect programme.
