Webfleet, Bridgestone’s fleet management platform, and Peregrine.ai, a Berlin-based start-up specialising in AI-powered vision systems, announced on 17 September 2025 a new generation of driver assistance tools for commercial vehicles. Peregrine’s technology, integrated into Webfleet Video, brings advanced Visual Intelligence functions that not only record events but also interpret them in real time, providing direct support to drivers and alerts to fleet managers.
The paid upgrade expands the platform’s existing features. In addition to detecting risky behaviours and recording footage, the solution can now identify specific hazards such as red-light violations, adverse weather conditions, slippery roads and restrictions related to vehicle weight or dimensions. Alerts are delivered directly in the cab, helping to reduce the risk of accidents.
For fleet managers, the innovation lies in the ability to receive structured, concise information that speeds up video analysis and enables faster operational decisions. No new equipment is required for installation: the update can be rolled out online via over-the-air procedures. The solution is currently being implemented with a selected group of customers, with the aim of gradually extending the offer to the wider fleet market.
According to Jan-Maarten de Vries, president of Bridgestone Fleet Management Solutions, the collaboration with Peregrine.ai goes beyond traditional vehicle cameras thanks to its ability to detect and contextualise road risks as they occur. Peregrine.ai CEO Steffen Heinrich stressed that contextual AI makes existing vehicles smarter, boosting safety and efficiency in a scalable way.
