From July 2026 the European Union will introduce a fixed charge of three euros on shipments under €150 arriving from third countries. The measure was approved in December 2025 by the Council of the European Union. The levy is expected to affect end consumers and have repercussions across the logistics sector.

Traffic through the Mont Blanc Tunnel reopened on 12 December 2025 after a fifteen-week closure for extraordinary maintenance works. Further interruptions are planned in the future, although their format has not yet been defined.
