Trimble and Travis Road Services announced on 23 July 2026 in Ulm, Germany, an integration connecting Trimble CoPilot with the European network of services for hauliers operated by Travis. Through the integration, drivers can locate and book more than 750 parking sites registered in the Travis network, removing one of the main daily operational obstacles for drivers and fleets. The feature is available to all Trimble CoPilot customers in 26 European countries, including Italy. Once a parking area has been identified, drivers are redirected to the Travis platform to check availability and complete the booking under the conditions and rates set by the parking operator.
Trimble CoPilot users can search for Travis parking sites along their planned route, near their current location or by selecting a specific destination. A direct link within the app then takes them to the Travis platform to complete the booking. Through the Travis Driver app, drivers receive access instructions and parking information in more than ten languages, helping them plan mandatory rest periods and reducing uncertainty during the journey. For fleet managers operating across Europe, Travis issues a single periodic invoice covering all parking costs, simplifying VAT recovery, improving spending visibility and removing the need to manage receipts from different countries and suppliers.
The initiative comes as European transport operators face growing pressure on several fronts: driver safety, cargo protection and compliance with driving and rest-time regulations. A recent study by the European Commission estimates that drivers spend an average of 45 minutes a day looking for a safe and compliant place to rest before their permitted driving hours run out, increasing stress and fatigue and, for female drivers, also creating a personal safety issue. Inefficiencies linked to this search can cost up to €19,200 a year per vehicle, through lost time, unnecessary mileage and additional fuel consumption.
Pressure on cargo security is also increasing, with criminal organisations targeting Europe’s main logistics corridors. Almost 40% of thefts take place in unsecured rest areas or parking sites, generating estimated total losses of €8.2bn a year for the logistics sector. Secure parking is therefore becoming a strategic requirement for the entire supply chain, as well as an important factor in protecting drivers’ welfare. “Access to secure and reliable rest areas should not be an add-on, but an integrated feature within the tools that fleets use every day to manage their operations,” said Chris Quin, vice-president for European sales at Trimble. “By integrating the Travis parking network directly into CoPilot, we are helping carriers to plan safer stops more easily, giving drivers greater peace of mind at the end of the driving day”.
