In June 2024, ZF announced at the Global Technology Day its innovations for the transport sector, which will be presented at the IAA 2024 in Hannover. The focus is on electric propulsion and artificial intelligence applied to industrial vehicles. In the realm of electric propulsion, ZF introduced the new TraXon 2 hybrid transmission. This solution arises from the German company's understanding that the registration of fully electric industrial vehicles is progressing more slowly than expected. "Thanks to our open approach to technology and the flexibility of our production facilities, we can react quickly to market changes, offering optimal solutions at every stage of the transformation," said Peter Laier, a member of the Board of Management of ZF Friedrichshafen.
In the field of artificial intelligence, ZF announced Annotate, a cloud-based service aimed at revolutionizing the development of advanced and autonomous assistance systems. The company claims that Annotate will operate up to ten times faster than competing products and will reduce costs by 80%. ZF also announced the launch of cubiX, a vehicle control software that enhances driving behavior in terms of stability, safety, and performance. Originally developed for passenger cars, cubiX will be extended to commercial and industrial vehicles, meeting the specific needs of customers in these segments.
Another innovation presented at the Global Technology Day is an advanced lane-change assistance system designed to improve the safety of trucks with trailers. Utilizing radar and cameras, the system monitors traffic and assists the driver in lane-change maneuvers, potentially reducing up to 12% of accidents on German roads, according to ZF.
