On 6 December 2024, VGP, the real estate developer, announced the start of construction on the new VGP Park Parma Paradigna, the fifth logistics park of the group in Emilia-Romagna (Italy) and the second in the city of Parma. The hub, located just a few kilometres from the city centre and the A1 motorway, will become the new logistics centre for Mutti, a food producer specialising in tomato preserves. The facility will cover 50,000 square metres.
The new VGP Park Parma Paradigna will be built on Via Paradigna, just seven kilometres from the city centre and less than one kilometre from the motorway exit. The project includes several improvements for the benefit of the local area, including the construction of a new section of Via Versailles, which will directly connect Via Colorno to Via Paradigna, enhancing accessibility and optimising road links. Acoustic barriers will also be installed to reduce noise impact. Environmental sustainability will be ensured through mitigation works, with the transfer of land to the Municipality of Parma.
The logistics platform has been designed to meet high sustainability standards, combining advanced technological solutions with an approach aimed at minimising environmental impact. The entire complex will be built to achieve Breeam Excellent certification. A photovoltaic system of approximately one MW will enable the use of renewable energy, helping to reduce CO2 emissions. Special attention will be paid to rainwater management, with new solutions designed to ensure safety and sustainability even in areas downstream of the high-speed railway line.
