Torello receives first Mercedes-Benz Actros L ProCabin trucks
Daimler Truck Italia has delivered the first units of the new Mercedes-Benz Actros L ProCabin to the Italian Torello Group, marking a new phase in the collaboration between the two companies. The model, positioned at the top of the brand’s heavy-duty range, features a new-generation aerodynamic cab, an upgraded OM 471 engine and advanced driver assistance systems. The ProCabin enables reduced fuel consumption compared to the previous version. The 2025 model delivery was supported by Daimler Truck Retail’s branch in Piacenza.
Railway upgrade gets underway between Interporto d’Abruzzo and Scafa
Construction work has begun on doubling the Rome-Pescara railway line in sections 1 and 2, covering around 13 km between Interporto d’Abruzzo, Manoppello and Scafa. The project, led by Rete Ferroviaria Italiana in collaboration with Italferr, marks the first step in upgrading the Apennine corridor. It includes the construction of seven viaducts and aims to cut travel time between Rome and Pescara to about two hours, increasing train frequency to up to ten per hour and strengthening freight capacity.
Go-ahead for ro-ro development in Gioia Tauro
The technical commission of the Italian Ministry for the Environment has approved the project for restructuring the ro-ro quays in section E and constructing new quay space behind the second ro-ro terminal at the port of Gioia Tauro. The assessment found that the project does not entail significant environmental impacts and does not require a full environmental impact procedure. The work concerns quay E, equipped with three 25-metre ramps, and includes a new docking area to improve operational efficiency and adapt the terminal to the standards of modern ro-ro and ro-pax vessels.
New MSC headquarters to rise in Hamburg
MSC will build its new German headquarters in Hamburg’s HafenCity district, with a design by architecture firm Wandel Lorch Götze Wach, winner of the international competition. The project, focused on sustainability and openness, will be located in the Am Lohsepark area overlooking Brooktorhafen. The building, which will house around 700 employees, will feature a light façade for solar protection, modular interiors and internal green spaces. Partially built over the harbour basin, it will also include a restaurant and an exhibition area. Construction is expected to begin in 2026.
LeShuttle Freight traffic dips in April 2025
In April 2025, the LeShuttle Freight rail service transported 98,751 trucks through the Channel Tunnel, a 3% drop compared to the same month in 2024. Since the beginning of the year, over 400,000 commercial vehicles have used the service.
Finnair Cargo joins the Smart Freight Centre network
Finnair Cargo has announced its membership of the Smart Freight Centre, a global non-profit organisation committed to reducing the environmental impact of freight transport. With around 200 members worldwide, the SFC provides tools to measure and manage greenhouse gas emissions in logistics. Finnair Cargo will actively support decarbonisation initiatives and contribute to the aviation sector’s climate goals. The company aims to cut its emissions intensity by 34.5% by 2033 compared to 2023, aligning with the net-zero target for 2050.
LondonMetric acquires Urban Logistics for £699 million
LondonMetric Property has announced the acquisition of Urban Logistics Reit in a deal valued at approximately £699 million, equivalent to \$925 million. The cash and share offer values Urban Logistics at 150.3 pence per share. Upon completion, LondonMetric and Urban Logistics shareholders will hold 89% and 11% of the combined company respectively. The transaction is part of a consolidation strategy in the UK property sector, driven by rising demand for urban logistics space. LondonMetric was advised by Barclays, Peel Hunt and JPMorgan, while Urban Logistics was supported by Lazard and Kinmont.

The agreement outlines plans for codeshare operations, joint use of freighter aircraft and expanded connectivity on key global routes. The goal is to enhance service offerings and increase value for customers worldwide.
