In the increasingly competitive landscape of road freight transport, Transporeon – part of the Trimble group – has announced a major development in its service offering by expanding the capabilities of its Freight Marketplace platform. The system now connects shippers seeking reliable carriers directly with hauliers interested in spot loads. At the heart of the new proposition is a simple and cost-effective pricing model: shippers can post their transport needs free of charge, while carriers can access the platform by paying a fixed monthly fee of 100 euros, regardless of the size of the company or the number of users. According to Transporeon, this formula allows for an average cost reduction of 50 percent compared to existing alternatives.
Beyond the financial advantage, the platform stands out for its use of advanced technologies built on the company’s long-standing experience in the sector. The interface has been designed to be intuitive and user-friendly, while automation plays a central role in streamlining operations. Artificial intelligence now enables fast and accurate verification of carrier identity and insurance coverage, removing the need for traditional manual procedures that often slow down workflows. Negotiations also take place directly within the platform, supported by benchmark data and anonymised market rates, allowing users to strike better-informed and more advantageous deals without relying on external communication.
Transporeon reports that market interest in the new platform has been immediate. Ten of Europe’s leading shippers have already adopted Freight Marketplace for their spot operations, shifting volumes previously managed on other platforms. At the same time, thousands of carriers have joined a waiting list and will gain access to the new features starting in April.
Among the first adopters is Gartner, one of Europe’s major freight forwarders. Markus Fuerlinger, the company’s Chief Information Officer, stated that the platform offers a tangible opportunity to streamline day-to-day operations, thanks to its modern interface, integrated negotiation tools and a reliable, automated verification system. This combination of elements, he said, can truly improve the way carriers are selected and spot transport needs are handled. According to Jonah McIntire, Chief Platform Officer at Transporeon, this expansion marks a strategic step towards delivering a more efficient, cost-effective and transparent tool to the market, one capable of overcoming the limitations of a sector still heavily reliant on traditional practices.
