DP World in talks to run Montreal’s new terminal
DP World is negotiating the management of the new container terminal at Contrecoeur, Canada, designed to boost the Port of Montreal’s capacity by more than 50 per cent. The facility, to be built on the St. Lawrence River northeast of the city, represents an investment of around 1.6 billion Canadian dollars and is scheduled for completion in 2029. The project, first discussed in the 1980s, has secured the backing of the Canadian and Québec governments, which have allocated more than half a billion dollars to support trade with Europe in a context of commercial frictions with the United States. The terminal will be able to handle up to 1.15 million containers a year, helping to prevent the saturation of the port’s current capacity, expected to reach 2.1 million units by 2030. Caisse de Dépôt et Placement du Québec, DP World’s financial partner, holds 45 per cent of its Canadian subsidiary.
Time:matters opens two courier terminals in Mexico
Time:matters is expanding its international network with the opening of two new courier terminals in Mexico, located at Mexico City’s Benito Juárez International Airport and Felipe Ángeles Airport. The initiative, carried out in partnership with Lufthansa Cargo Servicios Logísticos de México, strengthens the company’s global footprint and halves the handling time for critical shipments from six to three hours. The new facilities, operating around the clock, ensure dedicated processes and qualified staff to manage sensitive and urgent goods such as automotive components, semiconductors, medical equipment and hazardous materials. The project complements the existing network of terminals in Frankfurt, Munich and Shanghai, enhancing connectivity between Latin America, Europe and Asia for strategic sectors including automotive, semiconductors and life sciences.
