Hupac to boost train services between Duisburg, Singen and Italy
From 7 July, Hupac will enhance its shuttle service between Duisburg and Singen, also improving intermodal links between Germany and Italy. The new schedule includes five weekly departures between Duisburg and Singen, eight from Singen to Brescia, and seven to Busto Arsizio. The corridor via Singen will thus offer greater flexibility, operational reliability and daily frequency. The service will be suitable for all intermodal loading units, including P400 semi-trailers and dangerous goods under Adr/Rid regulations.
Digital terminal for lorries at Rijeka
Rijeka Gateway container terminal has become the first in the Upper Adriatic to manage road traffic digitally. Following the installation of Conroo systems, truck access is now controlled through a smartphone app, removing the need for physical pre-gates, cards and paper documents. Drivers can register, receive instructions, container data and access credentials directly on their phones. The solution, already operational, enables the terminal to be fully managed remotely and promises smoother traffic flow and shorter waiting times.
DB Cargo France launches combined transport service with Ikea
DB Cargo France has launched a new rail service between Metz, in north-eastern France, and Valenton, on the outskirts of Paris. The connection, operated on behalf of Ikea, marks the company’s first venture as a combined transport operator.
Helrom to launch semi-trailer rail link between Poland and Germany
German firm Helrom, specialised in rail transport of semi-trailers, will launch a new service in September between Katowice (Poland) and Düsseldorf (Germany). The connection will run six times a week in both directions and will be fully operated by Helrom, covering both terminal operations and rail haulage. It is the company’s first service in Poland, which becomes the fifth country in its network. Helrom’s proprietary horizontal loading system eliminates the need for additional transhipment infrastructure. In May, the company secured almost 33 million euros in funding to purchase 120 new rail wagons.
Msc continues its expansion in Brazil with acquisition of Wilson Sons
Msc has completed the acquisition of Wilson Sons through its subsidiary Shipping Agency Services. The deal was finalised following approval by Brazil’s National Waterway Transport Agency (Antaq). “Our goal is to strengthen logistics capabilities in this area by generating operational synergies and delivering an even more efficient service,” said Msc. The acquisition marks another step in Msc’s Brazilian expansion strategy, which began with the purchase of Log-In Logística at the end of 2021. Wilson Sons operates two major container terminals: Tecon Rio Grande in Rio Grande and Tecon Salvador in the port of Salvador.
Tilman Apitzsch appointed Managing Director of CargoBeamer Intermodal Operations
CargoBeamer has appointed Tilman Apitzsch as the new Managing Director of CargoBeamer Intermodal Operations. Apitzsch will lead the new Business Solutions division, responsible for commercial strategy, coordination and operational excellence. He will report to COO Boris Timm and work alongside Tim Krasowka and Alexander Kornblum. Previously with Boston Consulting Group, Apitzsch has over a decade of experience in large-scale intermodal, rail and logistics projects. With a Master of Science in Management and Mobility, he aims to contribute to the sustainable development of CargoBeamer’s rail services.
Ups Healthcare opens advanced logistics hub in Singapore
Ups Healthcare has opened a new advanced logistics facility at 36 Tuas Road, Singapore, covering more than 11,500 square metres. The centre doubles the company’s regional footprint to meet rising demand in the healthcare sector. The site features advanced automation, cold chain solutions, an internal transport system, dry ice dispensers, a vertical lean lift module and temperature-controlled rooms, including a freezer at -20°C. Compliant with Gdp and Gmp standards, the facility offers specialised services such as cold packaging, labelling and regulatory support. The move is part of the expansion of Ups Premier services for time- and temperature-sensitive shipments.
