Transporting large glass sheets is a highly specialised field that demands both expertise and dedicated vehicles, which is why it is carried out by only a handful of companies. Among them, Lannutti stands out, having built its foundations on this very segment and later expanding into a business that now operates in eight European countries with a fleet of around 2,500 commercial vehicles, covering a broad range of transport services. To reinforce its core business, the Piedmontese company has now ordered four hundred FloatMax semi-trailers from Faymonville, specifically engineered for carrying flat glass sheets.
The collaboration between the two companies dates back to 1993, when the Italian group received its first Faymonville semi-trailer. The FloatMax model is particularly noteworthy for its combination of stability, durability and low weight – essential characteristics for the safe transport of flat glass, which is often both extremely fragile and very large. Another key feature of the three-axle models is their fully metal-clad structure, offering robust protection against corrosion.
The Piedmontese haulier is also expanding its fleet of road tractors, having signed an order in 2024 for 1,500 FH Aero units with Volvo Trucks. On the financial side, the company has strengthened its capital structure by securing a three-year, 100-million-dollar shelf facility with Pricoa Capital, part of the Prudential Financial group, and issuing a first seven-year bond worth 10 million euros. This transaction, arranged by UniCredit, is aimed at diversifying funding sources and supporting both organic and acquisition-led growth, with a particular focus on the development of the glass sector and integrated logistics.
