In a move that underlines the central role of the Iberian Peninsula in European logistics, Kuehne+Nagel has announced the acquisition of Tdn – Transporte y Distribución Nacional, a Spanish operator specialising in road transport services and headquartered in Madrid. The transaction, expected to be finalised in the coming weeks, marks a significant step in the Swiss freight forwarder's strategy to expand its groupage transport offering across Europe. The acquisition remains subject to the usual closing conditions, including approval by the relevant competition authorities. Upon completion, Tdn will be fully integrated into Kuehne+Nagel’s operational structure, with the aim of combining the expertise and infrastructure of both companies.
Tdn employs more than 600 people and operates a network of 45 terminals, along with a fleet of over 700 industrial vehicles from third-party providers. In 2024, it handled more than one million shipments, covering over two hundred daily routes that connect all of Spain, including the Balearic Islands, the Canary Islands and Portugal. Hansjörg Rodi, executive vice president for Road Logistics at Kuehne+Nagel, stated that “Tdn is a local champion with a dense groupage network across Spain. By integrating it with our own, we will be able to offer more competitive delivery times and more frequent departures to and from the Iberian Peninsula.”
