Luka Koper has taken a significant step forward in enhancing the container handling capacity at the Slovenian port of Koper (Capodistria) by launching the tender process for the project. The initiative involves an investment of 100 million euros, aiming to boost the port's annual capacity to 1.75 million TEUs by 2027, up from the current 1.5 million TEUs. This expansion follows the completion of the first phase in June 2022.
The project includes reclaiming approximately seven hectares of land north of the terminal and constructing two berths with a total length of 326 meters. Additionally, the plan involves dredging the seabed along the new berths and the access channel, removing around 68,000 cubic meters of sediment. The construction is set to begin in early 2025, with bids due to the port authority by September 30.
