On 9 June 2026, Italscania announced that Scania’s Italian subsidiary will have a new chief executive from 1 September 2026. Enrique Enrich, who has led the Italian business since 1 December 2020, will step down after more than five years to take up a new position within the Swedish group. He will be succeeded by Fredrik Swartling, currently the company’s Head of Services. At a press conference, Enrich reviewed his time in charge, highlighting the expansion of the sales and service network through the addition of more than 20 workshops and ten on-site customer facilities. He also pointed to the strengthening of financial and insurance services and growth in the bus, marine engine and industrial engine segments. Enrich also noted the professional development of numerous colleagues who were promoted to positions of greater responsibility both in Italy and abroad.
Introducing his successor, Enrich highlighted Swartling’s creativity, ability to deliver and charisma, describing the appointment as the natural continuation of a journey they had shared. Swartling accepted the role, saying that he regarded it as an exciting challenge and recognition of the work carried out by the entire Italian team. He also identified ongoing dialogue with the market and the media as one of the foundations of his management approach, stressing the importance of gathering information and insights directly from industry stakeholders.
Swartling is an engineer with a master’s degree in Electronic Engineering from Linköping University. He began his career at Scania in Södertälje as a transmission software designer, contributing to several patents covering gear-shift strategies for commercial vehicles. He first moved to Italy as a field test engineer at Italscania in the Trento area before returning to Sweden, where he held positions of increasing responsibility in emission treatment systems. He initially led the NOx Treatment Systems team and later became Head of Fluid and Emission Treatment, a role he held until February 2016. Since March 2016, he has served as Head of Services at Italscania, taking on progressively greater responsibilities within the company’s service operations. In recent years, Swartling has led several service innovation projects, including Scania Fleet Care, On-Site and Services 360, supporting customers as they move towards more efficient and effective business operations.
